Komorebi

We designed an art object for a children’s psychiatric centre inspired by Komorebi — the Japanese word for sunlight filtering through leaves.

Our plan: transparent rotating panels that would turn the space into a constantly changing mess of colourful light and shadows. Children could move them around, make their own compositions, hide behind them, or simply watch the light move.

It was going to be calming.
It was going to be playful.
It was going to be beautiful.

We made the drawings.
We made the proposal.
We did not make the object.

Someone else got the job.

Komorebi: 1. Us: 0.
