Never (maybe?) land
A place for things that don't exist yet.
We are still looking for the right name.
Maybe it is Failland.
Maybe Never(maybe)land.
Maybe Lost Parts play.
For now, we like the fact that we haven't decided yet.
This is a place for the ideas that are still somewhere in between.
Some have only existed in our heads. Some became sketches, strange prototypes or conversations. Some started as part of a commission and never made it further. Others were tested, changed, abandoned or simply forgotten.
And that's exactly why we wanted to make this place…
An ode to experimenting and failing. Through our work with children, students and in our own practice, we've noticed how paralysing the idea of failure can be. The moment something has to be good, right or finished, we become careful. We stop trying. We stop making strange connections. We stop taking risks.
But playing doesn't work that way. You try something. It doesn't work. You try again. You change the rules. You discover something you weren't looking for.
Experimenting and failing are not interruptions to the creative process. They are part of it. In play, failure can be liberating. It gives you permission to try something ridiculous, to start again, to make something that doesn't make sense yet.
We want to hold on to that. Not every idea needs to become a project.
Some ideas might stay here forever.
Some might disappear.
Some might suddenly come back years later.
And some might travel from Neverland to Maybe-land.
This page is a space for all of them. Drawings. Thoughts. Experiments. Half-finished ideas. Things that didn't work. Things we haven't figured out yet.
A place to make visible the messy, playful and often invisible part of designing.
Because maybe the idea that failed today is the idea that makes something possible.
